Rev. James Harrison Eldridge Goes to be with the Lord

Reverend James Harrison Eldridge left this world for his heavenly reward on December 5, 2012. He was 92 years old. He was born on December 14, 1919 to the late James and Edith Eldridge and graduated from Collingswood High School as well as the Eastern Baptist Seminary. After he was ordained in 1944, Reverend Eldridge started his ministry at the First Baptist Church of Holloway Terrace. He retired from his full time ministry in 1984 at Cross Road Baptist Church in Bangor, PA. He continued his interim ministry in four additional locations in DE, NJ, PA and OH, ending his ministry where he began at the First Baptist Church of Holloway Terrace.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Doris Slawter Eldridge, son David of California, daughter Janyce Barnes (Roger) of Indiana, sister Naomi Reynolds (Dorsey) of Pennsylvania, and brother Paul (Elizabeth) of Delaware. He is also survived by his grandchildren Erin and Sean Barnes of Indiana and Jessica Eldrige of California, nieces Ruth Zoda (Tom) and Kristie Howie (Jim), nephews Jeffrey Eldridge (Keith) and Daryl Reynolds (Mariette), great-nieces Natalie Zoda and Megan Merritt and great-nephew James Merritt.

A celebration of Reverend Eldridge's life will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, December 15, 2012 with service to begin at 11:00 am at the Bethel Baptist Church 1217 Wilson Road, Wilmington, DE.
