Humanity Baptist Church 2nd Annual Women's Conference

Humanity Baptist Church, Newark,  where Rev. Robert L. DeVeaux is the senior pastor,  recently celebrated their second annual women's conference.  The theme was, Bondage Free, lifted from       Galatians 5:1.  Rev. DeVeaux noted, " as we strive to be better servants, we occasionally have to be reminded through the word of God to stand firm in the liberty of Christianity".  Our sisters came to the conference with excitement and expectation.  It was a weekend of  fellowship, reflection and renewal.  Rev. Lula A. Baker, Sr. Pastor for Cross and Crown Christian Church, Kenilworth, ignited the conference on Friday evening with the preached word and then followed up with a  Saturday workshop on the biblical definitions of bondage, facilitating a deeper understanding. On Saturday afternoon, Rev. Gina Jacobs-Strain focused on biblical examples of women that intentionally claimed both their calling and their blessing of liberty.  The workshops were filled with fruitful and thoughtful discussion. Our weekend concluded with a joyful worship service on Sunday, as Rev. Jacobs-Strain shared the preached word. The women's committee lead by Sister Carol Gilliard, thought of every detail and it was a wonderful weekend filled with blessings for all that attended.
