[WEBINAR] ABCNJ's Sacred Safe Spaces to host webinar on Sexual Abuse
Saturday, August 22, 2020
11:00-11:45
How can your congregation become a Sacred Safe Space? Preaching, teaching, posting information of helpful phone numbers are a good start. Join us for some additional ideas to explore with your faith leaders how your congregation can provide a vital ministry to the community and form vital partnerships with local agencies.
Kiara Sarner is the Outreach Coordinator and Prevention Specialist for Essex County's Rape Crisis Center. Her job includes educating community members on how to be change agents in the fight against sexual violence and advocating for survivors. She spends the rest of her time working towards her Master's degree in Social Work and volunteering with stray cats. Our upcoming August webinars provide an opportunity to equip your church members and leaders to understand better some of the crucial tools utilized by congregations looking to become Sacred Safe Spaces.
Each webinar will last forty-five minutes, with a thirty-minute lecture, followed by a fifteen-minute question and answer time. Registration is required, and both lectures will utilize Zoom Webinars to ensure the privacy of each participant.
Sacred Safe Spaces was established in 2013 as a ministry of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey (ABCNJ) to equip and empower our churches and help them become healing places for survivors of domestic violence through education and consciousness-raising.
