Pray for Haiti - ABCNJ Haiti Relief 2021
FROM EXECUTIVE MINISTER | SENIOR REGIONAL PASTOR of ABCNJ REV. MIRIAM MÉNDEZ
On August 14, 2021, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake devastated Haiti. While lasting less than a minute, over 54,000 houses were destroyed, in addition to public and religious buildings, schools, and businesses. The earthquake caused over 2,200 deaths and 12,000 serious injuries.
Tropical Storm Grace rolled across Haiti three days after the earthquake with drenching rains that widespread caused flooding, landslides, soaking survivors made homeless, and hindering search and rescue efforts.
The death toll and devastation will continue to rise with a lack of medical care, food, potable water, and other essentials. The people of Haiti need your help.
In a recent time of prayer and conversation, the Rev. Dieudonné Merinvil - Haitian Ministries Representative on ABCNJ Council, Rev. Dr. Edgard Nicolas - Pastor of Crossroads Haitian Church, and ABCNJ Executive Minister, Rev. Miriam Méndez, and Associate Regional Ministers: Rev. Eric Hoheisel and Rev. David Van Brakle, met to discuss the immediate needs for Haiti. Through churches and connections that we know in Haiti, our ABCNJ Haitian Ministries will help dispense tents, water, food and others supplies needed as soon as possible.
You and our churches can help directly for Haitian relief by donating online and typing "FOR HAITI" in the comments box. You can also write a check to the "AMERICAN BAPTIST CHURCHES OF NEW JERSEY" with "FOR HAITI" in the memo line and send it to the ABCNJ office at: 3752 Nottingham Way Suite 101, Hamilton Township, NJ 08690
As we pull our resources together we can serve as the hands of feet of Jesus for our sisters and brothers in Haiti. Thank you, ABCNJ, for your generosity and support.
